Puppet Palooza at the Park held May 23-25, 2025 at Unicoi State Park and Lodge, Helen, GA

What this is: A puppet gathering by the community, for the community, to help strengthen and support puppetry arts.

What this is not: A puppet festival presented or sponsored by any particular puppetry group, guild or organization.

A holiday party for the Atlanta Puppetry Guild

We will have a show-and-tell and a guest speaker at 7 pm

The guest speaker is Cheyenne Bryant. She will discuss her experience at the Southeast Regional Festival of the Puppeteers of America (Puppet Paradise) in Ashville, NC. She is the recipient of the 2024 Pegg Callahan Memorial Scholarship.

What the Heck do you need to know?

• This party will take place outdoors under the pavilion and inside the front gallery.

• Appetizer potluck and BYOB.

• Parking is on one side of Milton Street, the cross street that the driveway is located on.

• Please make sure to RSVP.

Look out! Little Red is ridin' into your 'hood and the Big Bad Wolf is working double-time in this twisted tangle of tales. Two childhood favorites have been cleverly "squished" together with a Big Bad Wolf to share in all the hilarious fun!

Based on the true story of “Lonesome George,” this show tells the tale of a truly one-on-a-kind tortoise from the Galapagos Islands. Who is George? He is a tortoise, a GIANT GALAPAGOS TORTOISE! Fall in love with the islands and this not-so-little tortoise!

Identical twin brothers Pablo and Efran Del Hierro have been touring the world with their performances, parades, and protests. The self-described “beautiful nothingness” and “raw magic” they produce is an amalgamation of abstract body puppetry, dance, carnival, and improv. Join us as you stretch the limits of your imagination when you become a collaborator with Poncili Creación!

Join identical twin brothers Pablo and Efran Del Hierro for a colorful and exuberant performance combining puppetry, dance, and audience participation. Pablo and Efran have traveled the world as Poncili Creación, sharing their unique and interactive puppetry with the world. Their work is described as “a new kind of performance art: smart, entertaining, unpretentious, and totally wild.” Come join in the creation!

The Giant, the Beanstalk and Jack is a one-of-a-kind adaptation, loosely based on the favorite tale of a boy named Jack who outwits the Giant! This clever show combines marionettes with hand, rod, and shadow puppets for a show-stopping production that is FEE FI FO FUN for the entire family.

Adapted from the classic children's novel into a musical featuring expertly hand-carved puppets and custom costumes, this show celebrates America's rich musical heritage. Travel down the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy and find out why Lion, Tinman and Strawman are all singing the Blues.

This unlikely space-traveling duo is on a mission to take audiences to a planet where they can learn how to be healthy and stay safe. Along the way, we meet a cast of whacky characters who teach us to hone our hygiene skills, protect ourselves from too much sun, stay safe around the house, and understand how to make good, healthy food choices. It’s a fantastic expedition filled with fun and facts!
